VT Division II Battles but Falls to UNCW
Blacksburg, Va. — The Virginia Tech Hokies Men's Lacrosse Division II faced a challenging outing against UNC Wilmington Seahawks Men's Lacrosse, falling in a hard-fought contest marked by turnovers and difficulty converting scoring opportunities.
Virginia Tech struggled to maintain possession throughout the game, as unforced turnovers limited offensive rhythm and repeatedly put pressure on the defensive unit. Despite creating quality looks, the Hokies were unable to consistently find the back of the net, a factor that ultimately proved decisive.
There were, however, several bright spots for the Hokies. Brennan McCulloch delivered a strong performance at the faceoff dot, providing Virginia Tech with valuable possessions and competing at a high level throughout the game. In goal, Andrew North turned in an impressive showing, making multiple key saves and keeping the Hokies within striking distance despite extended defensive sequences.
“This group continues to compete and show resilience,” said the Coach Patrick Droney. “As a young group we know there is a lot of learning in front of us. We need to clean up the turnovers and be more efficient offensively, but there were encouraging individual efforts that we can build on moving forward.”
Virginia Tech Division II will return to the practice field focused on tightening execution, improving ball security, and translating possession into production as the season continues.
