Hokies Skirt By Wolfpack

Blacksburg, VA - The Hokies traveled down to Raleigh, NC to duke it out with conference rival NC State for the ALC South crown. In a must win game the Hokies raced out to a7-1 first quarter lead en route to a 23-9 victory.

The Hokies got their first goal of the game from Junior attackmen Aidan Smith followed-up by a quick goal by Junior Jared Cole.  The goal scoring would continue throughout the first quarter as the Hokies raced out to a 7-1 lead.  NC State tried to counter but was not able to solve netminder Will Eckert who had three first quarter saves.

The second quarter saw the Hokies continue to assert themselves and Smith continuing to dish the ball leading the team with 6 Assists on the day.  Senior Will Stock contributed with 2 goals and an assist on the day including.  Meanwhile, the defense continued to battle giving up just four goals in the first half. 

The third quarter saw a push from NC State where they closed the game to 11-6 but the Hokies clamped down sparked by a goal from Daniel Gaffney to wrap the third quarter up 17-7.  The fourth quarter saw a little back and forth but the Hokie's offense was too much for the Wolfpack as the Hokies were able to put in 6 more enroute to the 23-9 finish.

The Hokies are ALC South Champs and will face the winner of West Virginia v Temple in Lynchburg on Saturday April 29.
