Hokies Score Sixteen in Win Over #10 Arizona

Blacksburg, VA - The Hokies started slow, but in the second quarter the offense came alive en route to a 16-10 victory over #10 Arizona.  

Right out of the gate the Laxcats looked prepared for the Hokies as they surged to a 4-1 first quarter lead.  They had a strong ride and their offense was clicking.  The Hokies defense held strong by keeping it close early despite playing most of the first quarter on D.

In the second quarter the offense took over scoring 6 goals.  Attackman Aidan Smith (4G, 3A) got the team going with two goals while midfielder Tyler Harper (3G, 1A) got one.  The defense was suffocating and the team rode well en route to a 7-6 lead including a buzzer beater from LSM Kyle Sudler.

The third quarter, FOGO Danny Gaffney got going and the Hokies surged to a 13-7 lead to end the quarter.  Goalie Hunter LeClair made two incredible saves to keep the Laxcats to just one goal.  

In the fourth quarter the teams traded goals and as the LaxCats looked to battle back but ultimately came up short as the Hokies won 16-10.  The Hokies faceoff against Arizona State on Monday night who is coming off a big win over #2 Clemson.
