Hokies Add Division II Squad

by Panchito Ojeda

Blacksburg, VA - Virginia Tech, which has had a division 1 men's lacrosse program since the 1970's, is adding a second team to its program. The Hokies will now have two teams competing in both the MCLA Division I and Division II levels.

Virginia Tech Division II will compete in the same conference as the Hokies Division I team, the Atlantic Lacrosse Conference (ALC). The Hokies will begin play in the 2024 season joining a short list of other teams also joining the ALC Division II.

"Every year at tryouts we are turning away a ton of excellent lacrosse players." stated Head Coach Panchito Ojeda. "Instead of sending them home, we are providing them an opportunity to compete and continue to represent VT on the lacrosse field. With more and more players arriving on campus each year, this will be a great opportunity for our program, culture, and brotherhood continue to grow."

Virginia Tech's Division II team will operate in conjunction with the Division I team under the Virginia Tech Men's Lacrosse program umbrella.  Tryout and coaching staff will be announced in middle of August. Any student athlete interested in joining either the Division I or Division II program should complete this interest form.
